The City of Clearwater, Fla., announces centennial celebrations to celebrate the city’s 100thAnniversary on May 27, 2015. There will be a Rib Fest in the North Greenwood area on Apr. 11, 2015, followed by the third annual Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival from Apr. 17-26, 2015. Located just south of Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach, the festival will feature 1,000 tons of Clearwater Beach’s world famous sugar white sands creatively carved into enchanting story-land scenes. This year’s event, themed “Sugar Sand Tales,” will feature an extraordinary walkthrough exhibit where classic fairy tales and iconic characters will come alive.
Blast Friday on Apr. 24, 2015 will feature Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes hosting a party with a 100-foot birthday cake. The city will unveil a new entryway monument on May 27, 2015, followed by the Phillies’ Florida League Clearwater ThreshersCentennial Game against the Fort Myers Miracle. There will be pre-game ceremonies and post-game fireworks.
The Centennial Parade will take place May 30, 2015 and will feature the city’s own talent groups ranging from dance, singing, and marching bands. Local sports teams will make appearances and the parade will kick-off a fun-filled night that will include a block party and nighttime fireworks on the harbor.
The Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce will commemorate the centennial with the Clearwater Beach Taste Fest on May 8, 2015. The Clearwater Beach Taste Fest is the pre-event kick-off party for the sixth annualClearwater Beach Restaurant Week, a celebration of Gulf Coast Cuisine for local Floridians as well as visitors. Made possible by more than 25 participating restaurants in the destination, the event will take place from May 11-22, 2015.
