Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort
Deerfield Beach, Florida
Sleek, Contemporary and Utterly Comfortable
by Steven Skelley and Thomas Routzong
Located on one of the most pristine beaches in the state and just steps away from a wonderfully picturesque pier, the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort may be one of the Atlantic Coast's best kept secrets. With its' multi-million dollar transformation to a "Sleek, Contemporary and Utterly Comfortable" design, it is quickly gaining a new upscale clientele and a reputation for exceptional customer service.
Situated along the Atlantic Ocean (just south of Boca Raton and about 20 miles north of Fort Lauderdale, Florida) the 172 room Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort is in the perfect location. It is just 33 steps from an award winning beach, a beautiful boardwalk, and within easy walking distance to multiple restaurants and bars.
Formerly a Howard Johnson's, the resort underwent a multi-million dollar, seven month renovation to join the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand in 2010. Interiors and exteriors were completely rejuvenated and redesigned to bring ocean views to each of the hotel's eight floors. Guest rooms were upgraded to include floor-to-ceiling window views in every room, 37 inch flat-screen televisions, complimentary wired and wireless internet, bathrooms with granite surfaces, frameless glass shower enclosures and rainfall shower heads. The ocean-view swimming pool now offers towel and drink service from a designated porter. Valets park your car. Bellmen immediately take care of your bags at the curb. Two restaurants and three bars were made available. The new on-site Market was added for guests to find a magazine, snack, or "any little item you may have forgotten to pack." If you need to work during your stay, a 24 hour a day Business Center is at your disposal.
Wayne Gales, Sales and Marketing Director said, "We are in one of the best locations in South Florida. One of our greatest strengths is our staff. If you look at reviews of our resort, people comment on the friendliness of our staff."
Just steps away from the Wyndham's front door is the beach that received the Blue Wave Award for one of the most pristine beaches in the state of Florida and a picturesque 920-foot fishing pier which is open to the public 24 hours per day. Beach chairs, umbrellas and volleyball courts are available.
The city of Deerfield Beach holds dances on the beach with live entertainment every week in the summer. The Women’s Professional Volleyball Association Tour andSuperboat Power Race events are annual events here.
If you are looking for an excellent children's program while in the area, the Ocean Rescue Surf Camp is designed to teach the young surfers "proper technique, safety awareness and ocean education," during eight one-week sessions. The camp is open to children ages 7 – 13 who are competent swimmers. Activities will include surf instruction, ocean and ecological awareness activities, snorkeling, waverunner rides, beach games and a pizza lunch every Friday.
Nearby attractions include daily shark and sea turtle feedings at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, and Butterfly World - the first and largest butterfly park in the Western Hemisphere which houses nearly 3,000 butterflies.
If you'd like to dine on the beach, JB’s On The Beach provides "all the best South Florida has to offer… beautiful beach views, cool tropical breezes, friendly service, warm ambiance and simply great food." In its' classy-casual setting, JB's offers tropical flavors, fresh seasonal seafood, steaks, ribs, and chops cooked on a wood-fired grill. The restaurant in less than a five-minute walk from the Wyndham and the outside dining has a great view of the beach, the pier and the sand-volleyball players. For our entree's, we chose Coconut Shrimp and Fish & Chips. The portions were large, our server (Stephanie) was excellent, and our Mojitos were well-made. For dessert, we chose Banana Pudding Pie and Key Lime Pie. Both were very tasty and served in large portions.Visit their website at http://www.jbsonthebeach.com
