We received a message in our GTM (Gay Travelers Magazine) Facebook group from Bobby Cook. He and his partner Rich Homan own the 40 acre Copper Cactus Ranch Men’s Retreat near Phoenix, Arizona.
Their website describes the retreat as “40 acres, 1800s pioneer ranch, saguaro cacti, 8 bedrooms, primitive camping, Next to Tonto National Forest, Next to famous Elephant Butte, North of Queen Valley, Northeast of Gold Canyon, In a hidden valley among the Superstition Mountain foothills, Men only, Clothing optional, Rustic, Rugged.”

Copper Cactus Ranch Men’s Retreat is a gay owned and operated clothing optional place to pursue happiness, where men who are attracted to men are comfortable, accepted and treated right, a very secluded masculine 40 acres.
What is special about Copper Cactus Ranch Men’s Retreat?
It’s much more than a campground. It’s a men’s sanctuary. The Ranch House has a Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Menu. It also has 7 private rooms you may rent like in a Bed & Breakfast and a Bunkroom where you may rent one of the four Queen-size Beds for the evening.
What activities and special events are available at Copper Cactus Ranch?
We have tons of FUN Events like Barbeques, Holiday Specials, Bear Events, Cowboy Events, Leather Events, Monthly Drum Circle, Evening Pool Parties when the sun goes down, Strip Poker, Squirt Gun Wars and other outdoor and indoor games. We also have more serious things like men’s discussion groups with topics like “Prep, how to get it and is it safe”, “Men’s Health” and “Me Too, Men Survivors of Abuse”. Also, we do a podcast to have a voice to the community.
What amenities does Copper Cactus Ranch have?
Pool, Hot Tub, Gallery, TV room for movies of all ratings, weekly Karaoke night, it’s 10 Minutes from Golf or a Liquor Store and a Convenience Store. It is 30 minutes to the Boyce Thompson Southwestern Arboretum. It is 30 minutes to the Renaissance Fairgrounds and only 30 minutes to the Country Thunder Music Festival grounds. We have Hiking Trails, Hot Tub, Swimming Pool, Indoor BYOB Saloon with a nice Lounge with Live Music or Karaoke, Outdoor Games and a Group Campfire.
We offer both tent camping and some 110 RV hook ups with water for RVs.

How do you get there from Phoenix, Arizona?
From Sky Harbor International Airport rental car area, you catch the 202 south from the rental car area and then watch for Highway 60 east. Go east on Highway 60 towards Globe Arizona. You will travel all the way out of the city on 60. Continue past the turn off for Florence Arizona about 2 miles. Then turn left towards Queen Valley Resort just before the railroad tracks. Follow road into Queen Valley and turn right at the stop sign. Go the T in the road turn left/north to the next stop sign. Go straight ahead (like you're driving beside the golf course) that is Elephant Butte Rd. Watch for rocks spray painted green as you go. Follow Elephant Butte Rd left around the golf course and winding north to the green ranch gate on the left (about 2.5 miles down)
