THE MONKEY movie review by Steven Skelley
While almost nothing is as horrifying as living through the idiocy of another Trump Presidency, times like these call out for a wonderful distraction like the film THE MONKEY.
THE MONKEY is bloody beautiful!
THE MONKEY is gore galore!
THE MONKEY is splatter spectacular!
THE MONKEY is horror hilarity!
THE MONKEY is just what the doctor ordered…if the doctor was a homicidal toy monkey! <MORE>

DEAR EVAN HANSEN theatre review by Thomas Routzong and Steven Skelley
For two nights, Broadway at the King Center and the American Theatre Guild present the national touring production of DEAR EVAN HANSEN in Melbourne, Florida. We have seen both the film version and the stage production of DEAR EVAN HANSEN and we find them equally disconcerting, insightful and inspiring. How can a story about two suicidal teens do all this? It helps to have fabulous dialogue, realistic characters and emotionally charged music that fully supports the evolution of the characters. <MORE>

It has been nineteen years (OMG) since Tina Fey's brilliant comedy movie about the perils of high school where the apex predator students either grant you a merciful and pitiful glance or viciously tear you apart for the sin of not being them. A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood movie review by Steven Skelley
I spent the afternoon crying. Don’t feel sorry for me though. It was a good cry. I don’t usually cry so it was an unexpected cry. Unexpected or not, it was a wet-eyed, tears-running-down-my-cheeks cry just the same. Why was I crying? It was all Mr. Fred Rogers fault. Yep, THAT Mr. Rogers! I borrowed the DVD of “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” from my local library. <MORE>

DON’T YOU DARE by Gayla Turner
Book Review by Steven Skelley

As the recent news of a Florida class valedictorian being threatened if he mentioned the word gay at graduation and of the passing and implementation of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law, DON’T YOU DARE by Gayla Turner could not be more timely. It is a heart-rending, true love story about what really happens when homophobia is the law of the land.  <MORE>

100 Years of Men in Love - The Accidental Collection movie review by Steven Skelley
100 Years of Men in Love: The Accidental Collection is a documentary focusing on a private collection of vintage photographs of male pairs from the 1850s to the 1950s. When the film truly identifies gay lovers, it is a touching reminder that being gay is both natural and a part of history that’s been hidden for far too long. <MORE>

THE BATMAN movie review by Steven Skelley
The first thing you need to do is block all the previous movies and actors from your memory. What this movie does best is stand on its own without the need to wink back at any other version. This is a dark, gritty crime drama where the lead detective fights his own demons as much as he fights psychopathic criminals. This Bruce Wayne is not a billionaire playboy. He’s an emotionally scarred billionaire who hasn’t had a moment of joy or relief in two lonely decades of self imposed exile. THE BATMAN is dark – very, very dark. And I like it that way. <MORE>

ROCKETMAN – Movie Review By Steven Skelley
Days of sadness and days of joy with some wonderful music weaving its way throughout
I saw the ELTON JOHN biopic ROCKETMAN as soon as I could. It is a musical, a biography, a creative re-imagining and a tribute to a musical prodigy who became a household name. It was not at all what I had imagined and more than I could have hoped for. It is a revealing of childhood trauma, business manipulation, romantic abuse, substance abuse and finally a man at peace with himself and his talent and in control of his demons. And the music is simply amazing. <MORE>

Boy Erased
Curt Loves Oldies Movie Review by Curt Solash
The film makes clear the "conversion" practices depicted are still legal in the majority of states. Over 700,000 LGBTQ people have endured such "therapy." It is a surprise and a strong statement that such cruel, inhumane, dignity-robbing, shameful attempts to change a person's sexuality is futile at best and literally a crime at worst. <READ MORE>

YESTERDAY The Movie - Movie Review by Steven Skelley
Let me begin by revealing that I am a Beatles music fan. Calling their eclectic, genre busting music the soundtrack of my life is corny but a valid description. CURT LOVES OLDIES: WRITTEN ON THE WIND - MOVIE REVIEW BY CURT SOLASH
The director called it "garbage". One of its main stars echoed his opinion. It is lurid, sleazy, sensationalistic, salacious, full of dysfunction, alcoholism, sexual inadequacy, suggestion of unfaithfulness, nymphomania, and murder - very heady stuff for 1956. But it's NOT garbage! It is fabulously entertaining with top-notch production values, direction, award winning acting, gorgeous color, a hit theme song, and you won't blink. <MORE>
