Bust out the chalk, brush up on all things potato and get ready for back to back to back summer fun in Minneapolis Northwest this June. Each of the area’s cities – Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park and Maple Grove – celebrate everything from art to food to heritage. We hope you’ll consider letting your audiences know about Minneapolis Northwest’s June event trifecta and all the other fun things they can do while they’re here.
Chalkfest – Maple Grove, June 9-10, 2018
This free, two-day street art festival features mind-boggling 3-D sidewalk chalk art by professionals, amateurs and art enthusiasts from across the world. Main Street Arbor Lakes transforms into a family-friendly festival with entertainment, food and other fun. The Fountains at Arbor Lakes also displays amazing murals by the artist-in-residence, Shawn McCann, and visiting artists prior to the event. Be sure to come both days to watch the artists’ process as they draw their creations and vote for your favorite professional artist to win the People’s Choice Award. Public chalking areas will also be provided for families and budding artists, so bring your creativity along!
Tater Daze Festival – Brooklyn Park, June 14-16, 2018
Since 1964, Brooklyn Park Tater Daze has been a unique festival to welcome the summer and pay homage to the city’s history as a potato-grower’s haven. Early settlers discovered that potatoes flourished in the flat, sandy soil of the area. Through the Great Depression, drought and urbanization, Brooklyn Park has shown its strength as a community willing to work together and make the city a welcoming place for everyone. Tater Daze remains the city’s signature community event, open to all ages with a wide variety of activities and fun for everyone, from toddlers to teens to parents and longtime residents. Bring the whole family to enjoy the parade, Spud Run and other activities!
Earle Brown Days Festival – Brooklyn Center, June 21-23, 2018
The 36th annual Earle Brown Days will kick off with an enormous 70+ attraction parade. Friday, event-goers can tee off at the Golf Festival at Centerbrook Golf Course followed by Red, White and Brew in the evening, featuring food, wine, craft beer and dueling pianos overlooking the beautifully manicured golf course. Saturday starts with the Run, Jump or Fly 5K, followed by a family festival in Centennial Park with non-stop entertainment, food trucks, activities for the kids and a community market. The festival comes to a close with a spectacular fireworks show.
And the summer fun doesn’t stop there. Minneapolis Northwest has plenty of activities, from kid-friendly outdoor events to nationally recognized attractions, to keep everyone busy throughout the season.
